4. ACTIVITIES
4.1 TBNSA operates daily except on Mondays, in which only the TBNSA Management Office is operational. TBNSA also operates on school and public holidays (including Mondays). The main TBNSA activity clusters are:
i. Research and Exhibition Areas
Paddy Garden, Tropical Fruit Garden, Cocoa Garden, Malaysian Rare Trees Arboretum, Ornamental Garden, Coconut Garden, Agricultural Technology (Hydroponic Garden) Exhibition Centre, Orchid Garden, 1 Malaysia Park, Visitor's Centre, Database Centre, Spice Garden, Animal Park, Sungai Baru Dam, Sungai Kuning Dam and Fishery Ponds;
ii. Accommodation Areas
Cultural Village Houses, Kampung Idaman houses, A-frame Chalets and camping sites;
iii. Course venues, family day and event sites as well as Filming Locations
Cultural Village hall, Cultural Village houses, Kampung Idaman houses, Camar Rimba, amphitheatre and multipurpose ban;
iv. Recreational Activities
Cycling, swimming, jungle trekking, running/obstacle courses, fishing, flying fox and kayaking; and
v. Public Facilities
Electricity and water supplies, toilets, F&B and sales stalls, wakaf and rest houses, bus stops, walkways and swimming pools.
4.2 The organisational structure of TBNSA are as follows:
i. Management and Administration Component
Manage administration, financial, TBNSA trust account, employment and security affairs;
ii. Botanical Component
Manage research and development of plant species especially rare and endangered species available at TBNSA and maintains nurseries for plant supply to 1 Malaysia Park and Orchid Garden;
iii. Agricultural Component
Park maintenance as well as planning and implementation of landscaping activities;
iv. Fishery Component
Maintains water bodies at TBNSA, ensures the caged fish rearing exhibition centre is operational and conducts research on endemic fish species available at TBNSA;
v. Veterinary Component
Maintains the Animal Park and conducts research on animal species available at TBNSA.
vi. Engineering Component
Monitors and maintains all public facilities in TBNSA, provides specifications as well as tenders and quotations for any works required; and
vii. Public Relations Component
Promotes TBNSA to the public, private sectors, higher learning institutions and research institutes via the mass media, advertisement and participation in exhibitions. Also responsible for rentals, maintenance and cleanliness of all accommodation areas as well as providing information to visitors of TBNSA.
