3.    OBJECTIVE, VISION, MISSION AND FUNCTION

   3.1    The establishment objective of TBNSA is to become the national excellence centre in the fields of education, scientific research and conservation for the development of botanical, horticultural, agricultural as well as other related fields. TBNSA will also become the primary National Botanical Park for all Botanical Park networks available in all States.

   3.2    The vision of TBNSA is to become a centre for scientific, education and conservation of national resources for developments of botanical, horticultural, forestry and other related fields in Malaysia. TBNSA directly acts as the nerve centre to other Botanical Parks in the states of Malaysia. It will also serve as a gateway for resource collection exchanges with overseas Botanical Parks.

   3.3    The missions of TBNSA are to:

      i.    Become a competitive and viable centre for scientific, education and conservation of national resources;
      ii.    Introduce TBNSA as a centre for agro-tourism; and
      iii.    Enhance the public awareness on appreciating the Malaysian flora and fauna heritage.

   3.4    TBNSA functions to:

      i.    Manage, plan and implement administrative and service affairs at TBNSA
      ii.    Establish plans, conduct maintenance as well as carrying-out financial and trust account affairs of TBNSA;
      iii.    Maintain all managing components of available botanical, agricultural, veterinary, fishery and engineering (infrastructure and public facilities) as well as the one to-be completed in 2011;
      iv.    Promote TBNSA as a primary centre for agro-tourism and agro-forestry in Malaysia as well as one of the world's premier Botanical Park.
      v.    Establish TBNSA as a source of reference for botanical, horticultural, biotechnological, agricultural and other fields related for use in research and exhibitions; and
      vi.    Establish TBNSA as a centre for recreation and include historical elements related to agriculture to attract domestic and overseas tourists.
